Carotid Artery Cut-Down in Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization: When and How?

چکیده
Background: Vascular access used for pediatric cardiac catheterization is one of the most important factors that affects success procedure. We aimed to compare effect, success, and complications catheterizations performed by carotid cut-down or femoral puncture in newborns young infants. Methods: included who underwent our department between 28 January 2017 15 April 2021. These patients balloon aortic valvuloplasty, coarctation angioplasty, ductal stenting, diagnostic procedures arch pathologies, modified Blalock-Taussig in-shunt intervention. Patients were divided into two groups: (group = 1) (CC, group 2). Results: Seventy-two 64 patients; 32 (44.4%) via approach 40 (55.6%) approach. Sixteen (22.2%) 56 (77.8%) interventional. CC was 13 (32.5%) with failed had shorter durations procedure, vascular access, anesthesia, compared (80.9 116.2 min, p 0.001; 12.9 22.5 140.9 166.6 0.001, respectively). fewer than did (2.5% 21.8%, respectively; 0.01); larger sheats (p 0.028). Conclusion: The artery can be successfully as a primary route, particularly small body weight require rapid stenting vertical duct.

Percutaneous Common Carotid Artery Access for Pediatric Interventional Cardiac Catheterization.
BACKGROUND Surgical cutdown for access to the common carotid artery provides a more direct route for certain pediatric cardiac interventions and avoids femoral artery injury in small infants. The safety of percutaneous carotid access (PCA) in children is unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS Retrospective review of PCA at Texas Children's Hospital and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. From July 2006 t...
متن کاملDiagnostic Cardiac Catheterization in the Pediatric Population
Although the utility of diagnostic cardiac catheterization in the clinical setting has diminished over the last years, due to the emergence of noninvasive imaging modalities, such as echocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography, catheterization for diagnostic reasons still constitutes a valuable tool in certain parts in the workup of pediatric heart disease. As a result,...

T he concept that a catheter could be used for intracardiac therapy was first put into practice in 19641 with the dilation of acquired peripheral vascular stenosis by graduated rigid dilators. Isolated cases of intracardiac therapy with a catheter had appeared as early as 19532; however, the balloon atrial septostomy developed by Dr. Rashkind and reported in 19663 was the first pediatric and th...
متن کاملHow do we Handle Traumatic Pediatric Carotid Artery Dissection?
Head and neck trauma in pediatric population differs from adult cases due to the immature cranio-cervical stability resulting from the weak neck musculature and large head to neck proportion. These cases also have drawn attention due to concomitant severe damage to the regional vascular structures such as carotid artery [1,2]. In some cases, especially with skull base fractures and cervical ver...
